    Description

    Talk Title: The Body-Brain Axis

    Abstract: N/A

Bio: Dr. Charles Zuker is recognized for his studies on how the brain represents our sensory experiences and how it transforms reception into perception. His work has led to new insights into the biology of photoreception, mechanoreception, and more recently, taste reception. Over the past several years, his laboratory has identified the cells mediating all five basic taste qualities (sweet, sour, bitter, salty, and umami) and helped uncover the logic of taste coding, both at the periphery and in the cortex.
