Title: Illuminating the cellular basis of hippocampal cognitive maps.

Abstract: How do hippocampal circuits give rise to internal maps of experience? In this talk, I will explore the cellular and circuit-level architecture underlying spatial and episodic representations in the hippocampus, focusing on the deep–superficial axis of CA1. I will present recent work revealing layer-specific dynamics during behavior, and show how these differences shape the geometry of population activity over time. Through manifold analyses and functional tagging, we uncover how distinct sublayers contribute to the flexible structure of memory traces.
