Functional ultrasound (fUS) imaging by Iconeus : a paradigm-changing brain imaging modality
Description
Functional ultrasound (fUS) imaging is a relatively new neuroimaging modality based on ultrafast plane-wave sonography. First introduced in 2011, this technique allows the mapping of subtle hemodynamic variations in the brain with an unprecedented spatial (100 x 100 x 400µm) and temporal (down to 10ms) resolution. Thanks to neurovascular coupling, brain activation can now be visualized in real-time, including in conscious behaving animals. In this talk, we will discuss published and future fUS applications in the field of circuit neuroscience, with a special emphasis on non-human primates, and rodents models. We will then introduce Iconeus One®, the first commercial fUS imaging system designed by and for neuroscientists.
