BCS celebrates 2025 faculty, staff, academic awards

The Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences celebrated faculty, staff, teaching, mentorship, and academic excellence in several recent ceremonies.

A ceremony was held in Singleton Auditorium for Teaching, Mentoring and Community Impact Awards on April 10. The following awardees were recognized:

Faculty Award For Graduate Teaching: Pawan Sinha

Faculty Award For Undergraduate Teaching: Gloria Choi

Faculty Award For Graduate Student Mentoring: Earl Miller

Faculty Award For Undergraduate Advising: Matt Wilson

Faculty Award For Postdoctoral Mentoring: Laura Schulz

Angus Macdonald Award For Excellence In Undergraduate Teaching: Audrey Effenberger, Xochitl Luna, and Adrian Martinez

Walle Nauta Award For Excellence In Graduate Teaching: Hokyung Sung and Sol Markman

Walle Nauta Award For Continuing Dedication To Teaching: Moshe Poliak

Community Impact Awards: Melissa Kline-Struhl, Herrissa Lamothe, Max Siegel, Alexandra Decker, Cui Li, and Troy Littleton

A ceremony was held for the Building 46 Staff Awards in the Picower Reading Terrace on April 23. The following individuals were recognized:

Go-To Person Staff Award: Ani Ayvazian-Hancock, Chris Shay, Natalie Gutierrez, and Taylor Johns 

Morale Booster Staff Award: Brittany Greenough, Kaitlyn Kelley, Sarah Frank, and Alex Sokhina 

Problem Solver Staff Award: Arek Hamalian, Steven Rinaldi, and Eleana MacPhail


Undergraduate academic award winners were celebrated at a dinner April 9. The following students were recognized with BCS Academic Awards for achieving a 4.9 GPA or higher.
