Thomas N. Byrne, MD is a professor of neurology at Harvard Medical School, a senior lecturer in the MIT Department of BCS and a neurologist and neuro-oncologist at Massachusetts General Hospital. Prior to moving to MIT and Harvard 11 years ago he was on the faculty at Yale for 21 years.
Dr. Byrne chairs an admissions subcommittee for the Health Sciences and Technology Division of Harvard Medical School. For students considering medical school he will discuss expectations for medical school admission as well as careers as a clinician and the MD vs MD/PhD route to becoming a clinician/scientist. Dr. Byrne will also discuss the meaningful life he has experienced as a physician and how he and his wife have managed a dual career family, parenting and professional responsibilities.
