Description
Susana Martinez-Conde is a world-class expert in understanding the neural bases of our visual experience. She is a co-author of the international bestsellers "Champions of Illusion" and "Sleights of mind." Her lab at SUNY-Downstate Medical Center seeks answers to questions like how: can the electrical activity of a neuron, or a neuronal population, convey the color or brightness of an object? Or what type of neural code do neurons use to communicate information to each other? To address these questions they use a combination of techniques, including fMRI, electrophysiological recordings from single neurons, psychophysical measurements, and computational models of visual function
