    Description

Special Seminar with Shari Wiseman, PhD, Chief Editor of Nature Neuroscience

    Tuesday, October 25, 12:00 - 1:00pm

In-Person at MIT Building 46, Room 46-3310 (Picower Seminar Room)

    Publishing in Nature Neuroscience

Publishing in scientific journals can be a bit intimidating, and scientific communication is a rapidly changing field.  Shari Wiseman, the Chief Editor of Nature Neuroscience, will provide an overview of the journey from initial submission to a published paper, give advice and insight about how to navigate this process, and explain the value that editors and publishers add to papers through their work.  She will also answer any questions attendees have.  While focused on Nature Neuroscience, much of the content of the talk will be applicable to other Nature Portfolio titles.

Shari Wiseman joined Nature Neuroscience in 2017, and became Chief Editor in 2021. Prior to that, she received her PhD from Yale University, where she worked with Dr. Angus Nairn. She employed biochemical, proteomic, and behavioral approaches to examine signal transduction mechanisms that regulate neuronal protein synthesis. She then went on to postdoctoral research at Beth Israel-Deaconess Medical Center/Harvard Medical School investigating animal models of autism spectrum disorders, followed by additional postdoctoral training in Dr. Stephen Moss's lab at Tufts University, where she studied the regulation of GABAB receptors by excitotoxic stimuli. Her research interests include cellular and molecular neuroscience, genetics/genomics, and addiction.
