    Description

Picower Special Seminar with Linlin Fan, PhD

    Monday, March 13 at 10:00am

Singleton Auditorium (46-3002, Third Floor of MIT Building 46)

Perturb and watch the brain in action: Toward the physical basis of learning and memory

Understanding the relationship of synaptic and cellular properties, neural circuit dynamics, and behavior requires the ability to perform cell-type-specific electrophysiological recordings and manipulations during behavior. I will talk about my work focused on developing and applying simultaneous genetically targeted voltage imaging and optogenetic manipulation to resolve synaptic excitation and inhibition in awake mice, and to study synaptic mechanisms underlying behavioral timescale plasticity.
