BCS provides opportunities for postdoctoral study with faculty who are widely recognized for their contributions to their fields. BCS is committed to providing a superior environment for research and training with broad exposure to all areas of research into the brain and mind. BCS postdocs have amassed an enviable track record, graduating to tenure-track positions at major universities, as well as to significant research positions in industry.

Postdoctoral researchers are an important part of the BCS community, contributing to the depth and breadth of the Department experience. Postdocs have the opportunity to take part in educational activities which enhance their development as scientists and teachers. BCS, and its related departments and centers, host numerous lectures and seminars throughout the year. Postdocs can also avail themselves of the entirety of the MIT and the Cambridge experience, which encompasses everything from the intellectual to the physical to the entertaining.

The Department appoints postdocs on the recommendation of a faculty sponsor. Currently, the Department's faculty host over 60 postdocs with active appointments in BCS and its affiliated research centers.
